CANPACK Manufacturing Facility Announced

Pennsylvannia Governor Tom Wolf announced that the CANPACK Group has acquired and will redevelop a former blighted 1 million-square-foot facility on a 102-acre brownfield site in Olyphant Borough in Lackawanna County, establishing an aluminum can manufacturing facility.

The CANPACK Group is an international manufacturer of aluminum and steel cans and glass bottles for the food and beverage sector and a subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based GIORGI GLOBAL HOLDINGS, INC.

MHA designed a new, state-of-the-art, 908,000 square foot building to house this facility, including executive offices and a customer experience center displaying CANPACK’s R&D and lithographic capabilities.

This is the company’s first facility of its kind in the US and is the largest manufacturing project in the Greater Scranton Area since 1966.  This facility will create approximately 400 new jobs.

CANPACK is another manufacturing project that is indicative of the recent trend towards shortening the supply chain from first mile to last mile.
