Out2Play Recreational Play Spaces

All Five Boroughs, New York City

Out2Play, Inc. is an award-winning, non-profit organization formed to rehabilitate existing playgrounds at NYC elementary schools using private funding.  Their goal is to improve the health and wellness of inner city public school children by creating fun, thoughtful and engaging play places.

MHA planned and designed children’s playgrounds at 180 New York City Elementary Schools in all five boroughs for Out2Play, Inc.

The designs introduce school-specific thematic elements, playground structures and other creative play environments to existing empty/under-utilized public school lots within a fixed budget and schedule.

The administration, parents and students of the individual schools were the designated clients, and MHA conducted onboard design workshops during the schematic stage of each project.

Winner of the NYC’s Neighborhood Achievement Award.
