Pactiv Advanced Packaging Distribution Facility

Pactiv Corporation is the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of food packaging and foodservice products, supplying packers, processors, supermarkets, restaurants, institutions and foodservice outlets across North America.

After completion of projects for Pactiv in Rochester, New York and Jacksonville, Illinois, MHA was retained to master plan and design a commercial/logistics hub located on a site within Meadows Field, a regional airport located in Bakersfield, California. The overall complex consists of two buildings, one at 804,000 SF and a second at 290,000 SF. The second smaller building is designed with expansion capabilities to reach a total floor area of 1.6 million square feet.

The superstructure for each of the buildings is designed as a sustainable hybrid system – combining conventional steel bar joist with timber purlins and wood decking.
