Spotlight On: Jade Grimes

Periodically MHA highlights our talented staff and their contributions to the firm.  In celebration of Earth Day 2022, we interviewed Jade Grimes, who joined MHA upon graduation from Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering.

Jade: I joined MHA as an Architectural Designer in July of 2021. My educational background is in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Science and Environmental Policy from Duke University. Based on my area of study, I was immediately able to contribute to MHA’s efforts in sustainable design.

In my time here at MHA, I have been given the opportunity to work on a range of projects with a focus in providing sustainable design solutions. For example, MHA is planning and designing the re-development of three new aircraft hangars and their associated offices, shops, aircraft aprons and vehicular parking areas. The project will achieve a minimum LEED Silver-equivalent certification. Being able to provide leading-edge solutions to this project has allowed me to contribute positively to the environment.

I was drawn to the firm due to the unique makeup of designers. Everyone at MHA has distinctive experiences that allow for a dynamic collaboration on projects. Our diverse staff gives me the opportunity to learn from people with a variety of different backgrounds and incorporate that shared knowledge into future design work.
